Lately due to the new place of residence the oppurtunity to drive this stretch daily through downtown Austin, Texas presented itself. By no way is it as bad as S.V. road Andheri Station or Borivli Station. But these goras around this redneck paradise rant about the traffic conditions, crawling pace etc etc. Some flex their office times, some take the back roads, some sweat it out in their cars. Recently I had the oppurtunity to ride along with Mr Bob Savicki our departments' technical staff. The poor guy broke in to nervous sweats and chain smoked through the apparent 15 minute ordeal. That reminds me I have to dedicate a post to the exploits of Mr Savicki or more commonly known as the Big Daddy.
Nevertheless I absolutely enjoy weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off etc. counting the number of times I get flicked off. People are in this little town are too nice for me. The good thing about driving a car compared to a motorcycle is that it encourages human interaction, a smuck smile in return for a middle finger and every other imaginable hand signal. A lady the other day gave me the elephant signal (hands on the ears and tounge sticking out), last time I saw that was in kindergarten. On the contrary on a motorcycle since your face is inside a helmet your only weapon would be a turn around middle finger as the poor shmuck bites the dust. In a way, deep inside me, where the little known sanity within me resides, it thanks the fact that I am not riding this route on a 100 hp crotch rocket.
On a different note I will be leaving for California, San Deigo to be precise, for a few days. It will be a good trip, but there is a catch. Why the fuckin hell is there a catch? Always? It will be time to bid adeiu to RD. It was comforting to have a good friend in close proximity, but hey California is the land of oppurtunities. Lets be glad for the guy.
I am leaving you readers with some homework. Read the article here. The next post will be the nemesis to this article. Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against Americans, most of the American professors around me are freakin genius's. Many of us cannot imagine to live up to the standards set by great American researcher's. Funny as it might seem, the most enlightening experiences in my three years here have been research meeting with these people. The time when imbeciles like me gather our scraps of paper with results on it and approach the almighty's with help in interpreting them. It has been three years but you still learn something every day. Learning to think is difficult!

Moving

Moving sucks...... will post soon.

Mumbai

Take care my city of Mumbai.....

Duh

My advisors needed me to measure this particular value for a sand. I couldnt do much on thursday due to the meeting the next day with Dr Bryant. With that out of the way, smirnoff and a movie at Mayank's. Mohanji provided us a dal-rice dinner. Friends of Farron, Vasanth and Nena called me during the movie and invited me to go downtown. Thankfully I might add. Invariably in downtown Austin, Texas or more familiarly known as 6th street you run in to a lot of ABCD kids. 6th street to the unkown is a street with around 50 odd bars unifying people with the common goal of getting wasted.
This time it felt nice to be in a group of 20 odd of them, odd because they seemed normal, especially after the FOB/ABCD movie. Thanks to Farron for showing me the other side of brown! What happened next is I wake up the next day with a hangover. I remember people buying shot after shot. Ending the night with a fish pond. A fish pond is literally a gold fish bowl full of alochol. Thanks to some Viet-cong chic who helped me finish the damn behemoth.
Once again thanks to all the people who emailed me the next day. Nirav, Shantanu, Neil, Ramesh, Niraj, Balla, Amey Karnik. Hardik and Ankush who called me. Special thanks to Liying who bought me a CD. Apparently nowadays CD's are HDCD's, damn I had no idea. And ofcourse Okhtay for letting me in to my own apartment Sunday morning, I was locked out the whole night.

Thank you

Poeple who called:
My parents, Bala, Farron, Alkesh, Pratik, Rohan, Liying, Vasant, Justin, SakYoon, Siyavash, the Janitor lady, Romi.
Email:
Choi and Patil.
Dinner
Vishal, Viren, Choi, Malik.
Reason :
Birthday.
Small list but no marketing.

Morparia

Morparia does it again!

Gas Price

Lets see assume the case of a small town and local beer drinkers. Say the only convenience store in town raises the price of beer to twice the price. The drinkers will either stop buying, go to walmart a few miles away and stock up or trade money for convenience. The point is there is "elasticity" in "demand." And there is "elasticity" in the "supply" of beer. But in the case of gas price going up, people need to go to work no matter what. There is NO elasticity in demand. At the present situation there is NO elasticity in supply, hence price goes up. Supply elasticity is not there because of increased Chinese demand.
Way out:
1. Finding more oil in America.
Not going to happen because people hate oil companies and blame' em for everything. No drilling in California, Alaska etc. If it werent for american oil companies this country would be importing more oil from others.
2. OPEC producing more oil.
That aint gonna happen. Too many countries in that organisation, too many ego's, too much bureaucracy. Besides consider that they increased production. This by no means is turning a couple of valves. It changes the dynamics of the whole production/economic system and is expensive. If the demand goes down, after summer people stop driving around like maniacs, the extra production creates extra supply and it reduces the price. Reducing and increasing the supply is not an easy process. OPEC has nothing to lose by increasing the oil price.
3. People stop driving. Public transport doent exist in most cities. People are lazy. Pay the price. People stop diving SUV's and Minivans. Families in India still drive a scooter, why cant Americans fit into a sedan. Pay the price.
What might be something to ponder over is the extent of "suburbanization'" of this country. By no means is the demand for gas ever going to decrease because people need to commute to work. It is time people stop bitching about gas prices and start walking like the rest of the world.

Interesting (click)

The Ten Commandments

This is the transcript of a portion of George Carlin's stand up comedy show (from HBO). Yours truly has this section pretty much memorized due to constant recommendations to others, so he decided to type it up. Rude old man with some good advice.......

Here is my problem? Why are there ten? You don’t need ten. I think the list of commandments was deliberately and artificially inflated to get it up to ten. It is a padded list. Here is what they did. About 5000 years ago a bunch of political and religious hustlers got together to figure out how to control people. How to keep them in line? They knew people were basically stupid and would believe everything they were told. So they announced that god had given them some commandments. Up on a mountain when no one was around god had given them the Ten Commandments. Let me ask you this, when they were sitting around making this shit up. Why did they pick ten? Why not nine or eleven? Because ten sounds official, ten sounds important. They knew if it were eleven people would not take it seriously. Ten is the basis of the decimal system, ten is a decade, and it is a psychologically satisfying number. the top ten, the ten most wanted. So having the Ten Commandments was really a marketing decision. It is a political document artificially inflated to sell better. I am going to show you how to reduce the Ten Commandments and come up with a list that is a little more workable and logical. I am going to start with the first three, the Roman Catholic version.

1) Thou shalt have none other Gods but me. 2) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord in vain. 3) Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day. Right off the back, the first three are pure bullshit. Sabbath day, lords name, lord in vain = spooky language. Designed to scare and control primitive people. In no way does superstitious nonsense like this apply to the lives of intelligent civilized human beings in the 21st century. We drop the first three and we are down to seven. Next 4) Honor thy father and mother. Obedience, respect for authority, just another name for controlling people. The truth is obedience and respect is not automatic it should be earned. They should be on the parent’s performance. Some parents deserve respect most of them don’t. We are down to six. in the interest of logic, something that religion is very uncomfortable with I am going to jump around the list a little bit. 7) Thou shalt not steal. 8) Thou shalt not bear false witness. Stealing and lying both discourage the same kind of behavior. Dishonesty is stealing and lying. You don’t need two so you combine both of them and call it "thou shalt not be dishonest." suddenly you are down to five. As long as we are combining I have two others that belong together. 6) Thou shalt not commit adultery. 9) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife. Both of them prohibit the same kind of behavior, in this case marital infidelity. Only difference is that coveting takes place in the head, and I don’t think they should outlaw coveting someone else's wife or what the hell is a guy gonna think about when he is waxing his carrot. But marital infidelity is a good idea and we shall keep the idea and call it "thou shalt not be unfaithful." we are down to four. But when you think about it honesty and fidelity are part of the same overall value. So we could combine the two honesty and the two fidelity commandments and give it more positive language and call it "thou shalt be honest and faithful." 10) Thou shalt not covet his (neighbor’s) house or field. This one is just plain fuckin stupid. Coveting the neighbor’s goods is what keeps the economy going. Your neighbor gets a vibrator that plays "O come all ye faithful" u wanna get one too. Coveting creates jobs leave it alone! That leaves us with the last commandment 5) Thou shalt do no murder. But when you think about it, religion has never had a big problem with murder. More people have been killed in the name of God, then for any other reason. All you have to do is to look at the Middle East, Northern Ireland, Kashmir, the inquisition, crusades and the WTC to see how seriously the religious folks take thou shalt not kill. The more devout they are the more they see murder as negotiable. it depends on who is doing the killing and who is getting killed. With all this in mind I leave you with the revised list of the Ten Commandments.

1. Thou shalt always be honest. And faithful to the provider of thy nookie.

2. Thou shalt try real hard not to kill anyone unless of course they pray to another invisible man than the one you pray to.

Two is all you needed; Moses could have carried it down the hill in his fuckin pocket. And if they had a list like this I wouldn’t mind the folks in Alabama putting it up on their walls. As long as they put in one extra commandment:

THOU SHALT KEEP THY RELEGION TO THYSELF".

Top Ten

I found this on Craigslist the other day..... couldnt resist the desire to blog it.
Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Ooo Baby!

Balls of Steel

Some guys definitely have 'em. If you do not believe me click here.
I have a recommendation to make about a media player, VLC player. It plays just about any kind of media file, so go ahead and get rid of windows media player, winamp, quicktime, real player, DivX player and musicmatch jukebox. It is very basic looking, none of the frills and unnecessary crap that seems to accompany a play button. Top it off, no need to install, just unzip the package and enjoy.
In the flow of recommendations, I present mp3's a bare 10 cents a song. 1/10 th the price of all other competitors. Excellent bit rate and non-copyrighted. Right here. Hold your horses, I agree it is a Russian site. Our hero, a man from Pune, wanted to go to Matunga, but as luck and trains would have it, boarded a fast train not halting at his destination. He panicked on realising his mistake but by then the local had started moving.
On seeing his plight, a sympathetic co-passenger decided to come to his rescue. It seemed that he had been commuting by that particular train (6:03 pm Kasara Fast) for the past 6 years and had noticed that the train always slowed down just before Matunga station and crawled at a snail's pace while passing through it. He told the man to jump out of the running train as it slowed down and that with a little bit of fleet-footedness, he would make it safely on terra firma.
However, knowing the man's inexperience, he added some words of caution: "Keep running the moment you jump or you'll fall. Just keep running." He stressed the word "running" lest the man not know the laws of motion.
The train did slow down just before Matunga station and at the prompting of his mentor, our hero jumped out of the train and started running as if all hell had broken loose. What he didn't realise, of course, was that he was running parallel to the train instead of running away from it.
Meanwhile, the train slowed down further, so that the man was running faster than the train. In the process, he reached the door of the next compartment and the footboard commuters there pulled him in thinking he was trying to board the train! To ! his agony, the train picked up speed and sped past Matunga and his new co-passengers started to congratulate him on how lucky he had been, until he told them that they had actually undone what he had done with great difficulty.
Those standing at the door of his "ex-compartment" had witnessed the whole drama and just couldn't stop laughing at the poor man's situation, while he grinned sheepishly. A picture for the people who have not yet experienced Bombay.

Girl gone Wild

I guess the picture is self-explanatory........

Cluster

Certain individuals experienced interest in the cluster I have been using. Bevo was constructed in June 2003. It consists of 45 dual processor AMD Athlon 2400MP 2GHz computers (90 processors), each with 2GB ECC DDR RAM connected by a 1Gbit ethernet network and a Myrinet 2000 network (5Gbit). Bevo has a shared RAID level 0+1 disk array of 560GB. Along with the other clusters, CSM uses Bevo to investigate high-performance parallel processing as a tool to model the behavior of fluids in permeable geologic formations such as petroleum and natural gas reservoirs, groundwater aquifers, and in shallow bodies of water such as bays and estuaries.

Human Extinction

By Les Knight:
Today I was thinking about how waterfront property is considered some of the most beautiful and therefore costly land to purchase. Now I'm wondering if there is an inbred instinct in us that draws us to water, evolved through years of ancient civilizations depending on waterways for transportation. Seems to me this is the case, although I'm not a cultural anthropologist.

Then I ask myself if war is brought out by the same natural instinct in us, both self-preservation and a natural urge to keep in equilibrium with our environment. The trend of increased crime in overpopulated areas seems to support this.

Then I think about religion and how it interferes with the natural flow of things and the guilt causes humans to engage in truly subversive behavior under the guise of noble causes- i.e, the shame associated with sexual desire, causing humans to confuse sexual desire with the "socially accepted" desire to procreate and therefore overpopulate; disguising murder as war (often in the name of a god or religion) and therefore making it socially acceptable because they are the enemy; forcing life to exist or be extended beyond a natural death-calling it a miracle of science-then not allowing the terminally ill or elderly to have the dignity to make their own determination if they would like to continue living and attaching the guilt stigma of "suicide" to ensure most will live regardless of their religion and how ill and miserable they are; giving helpless beings-whether embryos or children-more rights than the parents or people who support them; forcing women and men to bear, keep and/or raise unwanted children.

"If you want peace,
DON'T MAKE BABIES!"
Les Knight started VHEMT or Voluntary Human Extinction Movement. May we live long and die out. Finals and Projects, a girl, etc. A little busy till end of next week. Expect a long post about "NELP V" India's new policy for oil and gas.
On a different note, here in Austin, some ABCD kid was arrested for heckling conservative speaker Ann Coulter. A very interesting debate has ensued over the arrest. Conflict between public cursing and freedom of speech. Very interestingly University of Texas tolerates cursing on campus so practically speaking the kid shouldnt have been arrested. FYI the kid walked up to the stage possibly engraged over the lady's definition of a marriage and asked her: “You say that you believe in the sanctity of marriage. How do you feel about marriages where the man does nothing but fuck his wife up the ass?” Then he proceeded away and did the universal gesture of jacking-off. Very entertaining for the crowd who applauded and walked out alongwith the gentleman. But the kid was stopped mid-way flung to the wall like a convict and arrested. He was released later.

Politics

"Gas is -- can only be transported by ship, though, when you liquefy it, when you put it in solid form." These are the words of the President of the United States, the world's most powerful person. If you dont believe me check out this link and CTRL+F to find "liquefy." I have not been extremely critical of Mr. Bush for the reason that being from Texas I can guess his demeanor. Hel!l tho I am extremely liberal I would have voted R-red if I had a chance, cos they are good for business, period. Hell that panzee Kerry could have turned out to be another Jimmy Carter. The other day someone mentioned that India reverted its stand on Dabhol etc. so we are not 'stable' for investment. I was kind enough to remind him of Jimmy Carter and his windfall profits tax, which by all ways is a breach of an agreement. For the uninformed in the 70's when the oil price went up thanks to the Yom-Kippur war the oil companies were making way too much money for the democrats to comprehend. So the Republicans are relegious nut-jobs, but no one is perfect. The great deeds of Mr Reagan and his ACRS depreaciation and tax system have changed the whole face of the American economy. By the way Clinton enjoyed the benefits of what reagan started. A little about Reagan's taxation system was, give benefits to the extremely rich so that they go ahead and invest further. The rich get richer, the economy moves forward and the whole society gets richer. This is an entriely capitalist way of approach, sure to engrage every socialist. But hey that is how it works the rich are rich beacuse of a reason they are not sitting on their couches watching Oprah. Though Reagan is blamed by some conspiracy theorists for AIDS; hey that is pest control for the lecherous and dopers; good riddance I say. Bottomline Republicans are good for business. I dont agree with the rest of 90% of their beliefs, but I reserve the right to be selfish.

Thank you

My supervisor had a get-together at his place to honor Dr Mikhail his first PhD student. I had typed up quite a bit and all was lost. Painful, but here I go again.

Here is a picture from the graduate social yesterday. You are looking at students from the best graduate program in the world for Petroleum Engineering. So dont blame us for being ugly.

I recommend the new album "with teeth" by Nine inch nails. It is the good old dark, mysterious ramblings of a doped (heroin) out complicated mind of a certain Trent Reznor. Some info about the band, they shot to super stardom with their song "Closer." They took an obscene phrase "I wanna fuck you like an animal" and literally transformed it to a teen anthem. Bad publicity from the video to "happiness in slavery" featuring a S&M video by Rob Flannegan only helped the band more. Reznor is known to be a conoisseur of drugs, alcohol, sex and music. He gave the music to Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers." People who remember the tribute to Black Sabbath album, he was on vocals for 1000 Homo DJ's singing Supernaut. He also composed Antichrist Superstar for Marilyn Manson, the album being the latter shot to stardom. Reznor owns the Nothing record label and has a recording studio in the house of Charles Manson, the site to many gruesome murders. Oddly enough Marilyn Manson is a combination of the first name of a bimbo (Marilyn Monroe) and serial killer (Charles Manson). The other band members are called: Twiggy Ramirez, Zsa-Zsa Speck, Madonna Wayne Gacy, Daisy Berkowitz. It is like taking a ride on the "crazy train." It all began with a craigslist post about a motorcycle for sale very similar to mine, but without a title. Sunday night I remember I checked craigslist before leaving for home. Checking listings three times a day became a ritual after the theft incident. Flames of hope to crucify individuals responsible for the crime unmentionable still kindling within me. This is what the post read...........

Original URL: http://austin.craigslist.org/mcy/67831887.html
Posted by: adrianstarstewart@yahoo.com
Posted on: 2005-04-10, 6:57PM

2000 cbr 600f4 decent shape but will need a right side fairing, not crashed but lost when it was off. regulator/rectifier needed too. the previous owner left and ive got a mechanic s lien on the title. can be obtained but may take some work or time. ill sell it for 2500 to make room for other projects. call me anytime 512 554 3262 adrian cosmetics are in pretty decent shape also

I come back next day only to find the pussy deleted the post. Doubt turned to suspicion. Next step Mr. Justin Ferrel my labmate calls the guy up asking him details about this bike. For the uninformed Mr Ferrel is a seventh generation west texan doing a PhD in Petroleum Engineering; calls Moscow home; was a line backer for Nebraska huskers and wears the huge Orange Bowl ring in his right hand. The bike turns out to be yellow and after some convincing the guy agrees to sell the bike without a title. By this time I was convinced that this was my bike cos the guy mentioned:
1. The bike was "hot" in other words stolen.
2. Was in storage for the past three months.
3. The right side fairing was removed, convenient considering the fact that I damaged it the last time I fell off it and blew my right arm.
4. Volunteers to sell the bike for $2000, actual worth $4000+
So they guys steal a bike, wait for things to cool down and then sell it off. Kudos to Mr Ferrel to convince the hippe to sell the bike than part it out. The rendevouz was decided to be an apartment complex to the north side of Austin. The reason being he knew the gate codes when he hooked up with some chic the day before.
Then we called the cops in the hope to find some cooperation, but after half an hour of redirected calls Detective Anderson from the Auto-theft department decides to help us. 4.00 PM is the time limit the cops gave us, so we scheduled the sale for 10.00 AM the next day. You have to remember that the cops didnt have to do jack shit while we were busy orgainizing a sting for them. The hippie confirmed that he will turn up the next day by calling twice that night. Everything was going like clock-work. Sleepless night for me tho.
Next morning we arrive at the apartment complex, mind you the hippie thinks Justin lives there. We walk up to the detectives who were in a green truck and explain things over to the cops. One of the idiots was in a bulletproof vest with an engraved Sprite commercial, much to my surprise. We wait for the hippie who called to say he is on his way. In the mean-time this chic's roommate walks out of the apartment and recognizes Justin. She was startled, thinking this guy was stalking her. Just as she gets in to her car the hippie (in his car) and a truck with a motorcycle in its bed pulls up. The green truck slowly pulls up behing it. The cops get out with guns drawn. Another four SUV's/trucks pull out of nowhere spilling 8 other detctives; guns drawn and vests on. They swarm upon these two idiots and handcuff them, while I was busy staring/analyzing the bike and Justin was enjoying the spectacle. It was worth every bit of the planning and time invested to see the expressions on the faces of the two idiots when they saw the cops. To explain the look on their faces, it was like what you would see on a 7 year old's face if you kick his little dog.
We were asked to move away from the scene and then the usual questioning, searching procedure ensued. Well the bike had parts from my bike but the goddamn VIN number was someone else's. Let me skip the details and say that I have no bike yet, the thing is being investigated. About that point when I realized that I wasnt getting her back we left. But hell it was an entertaining 10 minutes!

Back with a bang

Wassup everybody? Due to demand from certain individuals tips for successful speeding in the USA have been posted, I am sure Rohan would like to add some to the list too.

Firstly develop a sixth sense for cops, you have to be born with it, if u dont have one hope may not be lost but be extra careful.

Get a radar detector, speeding is all about probabilities and all the methods usable to reduce the chances of getting caught are applicable. Eventually everyone gets caught. Alright a radar detector does cost around 100 bucks atleast, but so does a ticket! For example my last trip to new orleans the radar detector saved me atleast 2-3 tickets, do the math. The best radar detector in the market is a bel rx65 which costs around $225, if u can afford one get it. next one i recommend is a cobra 9700 which is around a $100. It doesnt make sense to get a $30 radar detector cause they are not radar detector but rather ticket detectors.

if u already have a detector older than 7 years get another one, dont dispose the older one but i have seen some hardcore people use it on their rear windscreens too. Another thing about them is that a lot tof people dont like the intrusive cords that dangle on your windscreen, a remedy would be to wire the detector directly to your fuse-box.

Remember that all cops arent' as stupid as Chief Wigham, they know most people own radar detectors. They do not keep their guns switched on all the time, so they instantly switch the gun on and get you. Remember this if you are the only one on the road.

the safest way to speed is to find a schmuck who is going fast and follow him. This is the easiest and foolproof way to speed, with the added safety of a RD.

Learn to use your RD, this is not a magic shield that will save you from all harm! If your screen blips and displays a warning briefly watch out there is a cop ahead.

Keep your eyes open, dont talk on the phone and avoid speeding at night. Learn where cops like to lurk, tangent to a sharp curve, just below the peak of an incline, behind overbridges and passes, they have favorite spots, these are easy to comprehend. Always slow down when you are around city or town limits.

Have knowledge of speed trap towns like for example Selma Texas, the whole economy of the town is based in speeding tickets. They put up a sign on the highway 5 miles below the other speed limit and ticket every unaware driver.

even if you do get a ticket fight the damn ticket. go to www.worldlawdirect.com and read about the all the details of how to dismiss a speeding ticket.

Happy driving......

New Year

End of year 2004...... may I take this oppurtunity to curse the punks who (this seems like an annual ritual) tried to break in to my bike. What makes people think that sticking a screw-driver in someone's ignition may start the bike up! Last year Nacho and me had to tow the bike over to his place and get it fixed. Behold when i called him up he totalled his truck, a brand new toyota. He fell asleep at the wheel and his truck flipped five times in to a ditch. Wear seat belts everybody.
Two of my aggie(Texas A&M) friends Shantanu and Nirav came over to Austin last wednesday, so spent a portion of last week showing them around austin. The lakes, Mount Bonnel etc. Iman and us three went downtown (Sixth Street) where I discovered "Yager Bombs". The next day we went down to "Sugars". Guys, the facial expressions on the face of a fellow human being who has never experienced sugar before in his lifetime, can at best be desscribed as very humourous. Bingo for the two aggies, this led to some hilarious events, shantanu even fell in love in two minutes with a sugar lady. another sugar lady stood up Nirav for like 2 hours. Pretty funny stuff. Then we went down to trudy's Mexican Martinis with the whole austin gang.
Friday we left for New Orleans, I wish I could describe much about the place but it all comes back in bits and pieces. Like rohan got screwed by a monk, then Iman profitted a 1000 bucks at the casino, Texas Longhorns won the Rose Bowl, Chirag almost got his ass kicked by two rednecks etc etc etc. Too much to describe......
people out there please take some time out to visualize beautiful scenes from Switzerland. Shay's blog. The wave annihilated 1/3 of the islands populations leaving behing a trail of collosal destruction and avoidable death. We need a geophysical lab setup in the islands that can track such seismic activity and predict the outcome of undersea activity. Surprisingly the lab in the Hawaiian islands warned officials in India within 15 minutes of the tremors. Not surprising the Sarkari Babus were not capable of dealing with such an emergency. Hell I would be surprised if they knew what a damn Tsunami was! The consequence of their lethargy is that we lost 100 air force personnel. Damn I would have traded the lives of all the politicians and IAS officials in India for 1 soldier.

Pyramiding

My good friend Chuck has joined the new line of people who have been bothering me with the Quixtar dreams, for all that who dont know about it, it is a very well organized pyramiding scheme. these guys are a cult called BWW, who will pester the hell out of you. these sub-species are very commonly frustrated indian engineering professionals who dont forsee a future in their jobs but cannot give up their materialistic american dreams of owning a home, driving a good car, watching stupid ball gamed on a 52" HDTV. A steady income without you working 8 hours a day, what the hell is this fucking utopia? what does a man do when he has too much time on his hands, I for sure will get frustrated.
My dad just voluntarily retired from his job, I respect the way he planned this is how it goes..... he invested in an aging farmhouse in Kerala about 10 years ago. Rebuilt the home, acquired agriculture around it and now we cultivate rice and enough vegetables to sustain ourselves for the next 50 odd years or so, basically a sort of miniature self-dependency. The house is not too far away from a big town where my parents have a lot of friends and activities. I am happy he they dont have to be in Bombay (the city has big problems). Dont get me wrong I love Bombay, but the city is for the young...........
I like the above future, not having to settle down in fucking New Jersey and paying mortgage for the rest of my miserable life, convincing myself i have an elevated sense of superior standard of living. God save his salacious, generous soul.
Next guys is about an absolutely insane biker in Sweden who drives around at outrageous speeds and records the same. The videos are available.
Think about this a while, this guy covers 55 miles in traffic at an average speed of 175 mph, I am sure not even people playing video games can possibly achieve that. He drives a limited edition GSXR 1000 made by Suzuki. If u listen to the video playback carefully at times when slowing down you will hear downshifts of gears very clearly, that is plain awesome cos this guy is sane enuff not to use brakes. Definitely worth the watch and the bandwidth.
My good friend Ryan, kind of a concert buddy, has released a demo from his new band "Numeric Plague." The demo shall be posted pretty soon. I was blown away by the material, I hope they make it big. And with big I mean like all the fans know about it and people come watch their shows. That is about all that can be expected for a death metal band, there is no money involved, most of them work day jobs. A bunch of very talented people who are staisfied in just making music that they beleive in, or idiots in the eyes of others.

SPEED

I love my baby, I call her Kitty! Like every other warm blooded biker out there I ventured out to the trails of hill country surrounding Austin. This time I decided to explore the Hamilton pool reserve area, it has been a long time i went back there cos of some bad history. Last year me and Nacho crashed somewhere in here, rather washed in to a stream, cracked the plastic work on our bikes and had drive back home completley drenched in sub-zero temperatures, coming home to two frozen prostates. going back there i realized that we were stupid cranking up serious speed without scouring the trail before and in the blind of night time. the roads were windy with a few treacherous hair-pins. i kept it easy on saturday making sure not to exceed 70-80 mph, stopped at Hamilton Pool. Beautiful emerald green water, have to come back here in summer......

found the ominous stream and made sure i picked a different trail on sunday. with enough recon available I let loose on Sunday and blasted through the curves at some serious speeds. fortunately there was no traffic in the opposite direction. one particular curve while negotiating a tight curve i slid my knees on the gravel, hurt like hell. another curve I guess I was going around 100-110 Mph, a bunch of chinese(oriental looking) tourists trained their handycams at me. great feeling. no cops, no mishaps, me happy.

saw Oceans' 12 other night. plain sucked. i should have gone to the dimebag darrell tribute show at the Backroom.

song of the day .........Disko Fire Scheiss Messiah by HANZEL AND GRETYL.

Rockers!

rockers who according to me should still be alive........blame it on drugs or their miserable feminine counterparts, rock could have used these people alive.

7. Texas Vs Michigan New Years' day.
U wolverines will be fucked royally. Chinar and Amey orange is gonna kick ur yellow ass.

I am going through an apparent non-creative stage this week, so I am going to take random stuff i like and post it.

From the State where drink driving is considered a sport, comes a true story from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Recently a routine police patrol parked outside a local neighbourhood tavern. Late in the evening the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the car park for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five vehicles, the man managed to find his car which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a fine dry night), flicked the indicators on, then off, tooted the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as some more vehicles left. At last he pulled out of car park and started to drive slowly down the road. The police officer, having patiently waited all this time, now started up the patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and carried out a breathalyser test. To his amazement the breathalyser indicated no evidence of the man having consumed alcohol at all! Dumbfounded, the officer said "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the Police station this breath-analyser equipment must be broken.

I doubt it, said the man, tonight I'm the designated decoy.

Post-graduate

I am a fuckin Masters of Science in Engineering today, I walk the graduation walk tomorrow......

Ozzfest

Dont have the time to blog so pulled up stuff from the past.......my experience at ozzfest this summer

Made it alive from ozzfest on saturday. my first ozzfest and definitely the best show of my life. the show was a marathon 14 hours starting at 9:30 AM at san antonio, Texas. two stages+ 65000 people+ about 15 bands+ black clothes+blistering heat+cops+firemans' hose+free condoms+free energy drinks+expensive water+women wearing nothing but body paint+mosh pits+dehydration= MAYHEM

SECOND STAGE

the show started off with LACUNA COIL a goth rock band from italy, they have a couple of excellent songs and the chic(lead singer) was hot! well executed but they definitely need a better back-up vocalist, the guy sounded constipated.

next band was DARKEST HOUR another scandinavian offspring. sounded good thats it. they need to make up their mind and play either death, punk or thrash. and the lead singer could take a trip to rehab and not wear a green tshirt and brown pants to a metal show.

next THROWDOWN crappy band totally amatuer but excellent crowd manipulation. did a cover of SEPULTURA's roots bloody roots, which was decent

next UNEARTH a band from boston. well a little too abrasive, no soul in the music. but awesome lead guitaring

next ATREYU californian punk rock band. decent. good drummer, saved them the humiliation

next EVERY TIME I DIE. was too busy getting hosed with water and moshing; but hated the lead singer. p.s bassist is good

then OTEP thrash quatret with an excess moaning female lead singer. she is good, the band is excellent, but she could shut the fuckin moaning up. hell knows why and what the fuck she is moaning abt.

MAGNA FI some hard rock band bunch of wus! like every other metalhead i decided to get a beer and the band was left with around 20 people watching. they didnt do their whole set apparently and didnt even turn up for their face to face shit later.

next GOD FORBID well the overwhelming quality of the lead singer, a jamaican, shadowed the rest of the band

then LAMB OF GOD thrash metals arguably the most sophisticated, professional performance on this stage. every band member did his job, all round, good old fashioned, in ur face, kick-ass thrash metal

next HATEBREED a band i have seen before. ferocious, good riffs hardcore music and popular. their albums are hardcore music to the layman like wondows for dummies. for someone like me, i have grown wary of the lead singers monotonous gruffs and the simplistic guitaring.

finally SLIPKNOT the eighteen legged band. anticsenormous. nine band members, face masks and vehement aggression. arguably the best newage drummer and lead vocalist have earned this band outstanding popularity. almost everyone in the crowd knew every word of the lyrics. what is left to figure out is why the extra 3 band members who just monkey abt, fingering the crowd, baseball batting empty kegs. get rid of'em alright. definitely the most entertaining band to watch.

MAIN STAGE

time for the professionals to take stage.

first on were ZAKK WYLDE' BLACK LABEL SOCIETY i thoroughly cant stand them

next on were SUPERJOINT RITUAL. they did not deserve to be in mainstage. Phil 'asylum' from PANTERA was the lead singer alright. but guys in metal previous stardom seldom converts to good music. they had just one good song fuck the enemy, rest wasnt main stage material. hoping the pro drugs and patriotism sell to his favor.

right time for some serious black metal. DIMMU BORGIR half the reason for me to go to ozzfest. the new breed of norwegian bands along with OPETH gaining extreme popularity due to groundbreaking talent in the black and death metal scenes. best black metal band in both performance and material voted by black metal fans all over the world. well the people at this show basically 50% rednecks and 50% hispanics were absolutely puzzled by this band. they just sat there staring at'em like in some movie or so. people u dont sit in a rock show!

next up SLAYER. seen em before but as always kick ass. these guys manage to get one of the fiercest pit's ever. think they have a new guitarist cos he botched up leads in one of the songs

JUDAS PRIEST definitely stole the show. british steel as they r called; the stalwarts of metal. rob halford so what if he is gay, and like a 100 years old he has the best larynx in this business. did all their classics like painkiller, livin after midnite etc. even rode on to stage on a bike for teh song 'hell bent for leather'

BLACK SABBATH come guys i need not tell u abt the pioneers of this music. old is gold! kinda surprising to see the guy jumpin around on stage like a teenager when he can barely manage on TV. yes and he mooned the crowd cos we werent loud enuff. in the name of lammi(guitar) and butler(arguably best bassist ever) and some old guy on drums and the devil himself reverend ozzy. amen.

Kids Grow the fuck up so fast

Found this hilarious couldnt resist plagiarizing this.............

Man, I tell you, I don't know where the fucking time goes. Seems like just yesterday Janie was bawling a blue streak and shitting herself in the car. Now, she's looking forward to high school, and her snot-nosed younger brother just turned 10. Instead of whining about wanting a pony, they're begging for cell phones, clothes, video games—you name it. Jesus Christ. Kids grow the fuck up so fast these days.

For years, you're telling them, "Grow the fuck up," "Stop your goddamn crying," and "Be a fucking big girl and eat that shit your mom cooked." Then, all of a sudden, they're not whiny kids anymore, but good-for-nothing bitchy teens.

For years, you run your ass ragged telling your kids "No, you can't go to swimming lessons," "No, you're not going to get a clarinet," and "Just shut the fuck up about the after-school soccer team." There's never a moment's peace. They won't stop annoying you with stupid questions about why the sky is blue, or what trees eat to stay alive. Then one day the stupid questions stop, you look up, and they're glaring at you with their little zit-faces, refusing to say a word. That means one of two things: Either they got into the cough syrup or their childhood is over.

Every parent goes through the same process. You find out you knocked someone up, and, once you're sure you can't get out of it, you have about seven months to run around before she shits out the kid and you never get to relax again ever. I mean, in no time, they go from screaming, stinking, toothless babies to pantsless, snot-nose brats who draw on the TV screen with the crayons they didn't eat. Before you know it, you're pushing 40, the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl in years, and the kids are getting old enough to hit back.

You know it's coming, but it's still kind of a shock when they turn out to have devious little minds of their own. You notice 20 bucks missing out of your coat pocket here, a couple cans of beer gone from the fridge there. Before you know it, you're finding cigarette butts and airplane glue out in the garage and noticing mysterious dents on the car. At that point, you have to admit that they're exploring the world on their own, I guess. It's only a matter of time before they head out into the world to find out what a bitch life is and how fucking good they had it all along, the ungrateful cocksuckers.

Soon enough, they'll be 18 and out of the house for good. They'll be all grown up, with shitty jobs, terrible marriages, and worthless fucking kids of their own. And, as long as I don't have to see any of it, I'll be perfectly fucking happy.

Yup, sometimes, it feels like I've done nothing but yell "no," "wrong," and "shut up" for years. I seriously thought my kids would never take my advice and grow the fuck up. But the worthless pieces of shit did. I guess I'm a better parent than I thought I was.

Thanksgiving weekend

UT kicked Aggie ass with a royal touch. This small nation has been able to subdue not only its big neighbor India but also subdue the mighty United States.

Since the early 1980s, Pakistan has adopted a clever military strategy that entails adopting un-conventional warfare and acquiring strategic position. Since its humiliating defeat in the 1972 at the hand of India, leading to the dismemberment of the country and creation of a new nation – Bangladesh, Pakistan has decided to cleverly avoid conventional warfare.

In the early eighties, Pakistan co-opted the Americans by raising the Soviet bogie. Thus it was able to overtly acquire American military technology and stealthily acquire the technology for making nuclear weapons. After the defeat of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, Pakistanis took over by creating the Taliban and thus gaining a strategic foothold in Central Asia. The Americans left the region concentrating instead on the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The arms and ammunition left behind by the CIA helped the Pakistanis to foster militancy in Kashmir and bleed India in the near future using the same un-conventional warfare successfully tested in Afghanistan.

In the 1990’s looking ahead into the future, Pakistan co-opted China to acquire the means to test and deliver these nuclear weapons by supplying the Chinese with American technology (such as the F-16) it acquired. The Chinese helped the Pakistanis with regards to Missiles such as the M11s.

In the late 1990’s and early 21st Century, it fostered Al-Qaida via its proxy, the Taliban and also spreading the nuclear bogey to countries such as Libya, Iran and North Korea to the extent that it can close the tap when it wanted.

The same strategy was adopted with regards to India. It supported the Kashmir insurgency and nourished only those militants that favored Pakistan. This helped it to embroil India’s conventional armed forces and divert its attention in fighting an un-conventional warfare. The highlight of this was the humiliating surrender to militant hijackers in Kandahar, Afghanistan in December, 2000, when India’s foreign minister accompanied released militants to secure the release of its hijacked airline and passengers. And the world did not bat an eyelid when the released militants roamed around Pakistani streets in frantic jubilation.

When 9/11 dawned, Pakistan closed the tap on the Taliban and increased its strategic importance by becoming the front-line nation in the “War on Terrorism”. While it closed one tap, Pakistan opened another tap by proliferating nuclear weapons to North Korea, Libya and Iran by creating another proxy in the form of its Nuclear God Father, A.Q. Khan and his confederated smuggling network.

As the hype on the “War on Terrorism” waned and America got involved in Iraq, Pakistan probably selectively leaked information about its own scientist and diverted attention to itself and its concerns.

The amazing thing about Pakistan is no matter what it does, it gets excused. By closing the proliferation tap, Pakistan has showed to the world what will happen if it ignores its local concerns. This has helped it bring India to the negotiating table on Kashmir and gain financial and military aid from the Americans.

Considering, the small size of Pakistan in area, natural resources and population this is by far a commendable achievement. When we look at other countries such as Israel which is technologically superior to Pakistan, its emphasis on fighting a conventional war against the un-conventional tactics employed by the Palestinians has only led it to desperation. The same can be said of the Americans who in their conventional effort to fight the “Terrorist” Bogie have only created more of the same.

The lesson to be learnt from Pakistan is that to fight an un-conventional war, one needs un-conventional tactics not missiles and aircraft carriers maneuvering around the world. Got to give credit to these bastards!
Band of the day LOLLILOP KILL LUST, Perfect women.

Kashmir

Apparently our government pulled troops out of Kashmir. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? Also, is Sabbath on Saturday as Seventh Day Adventists (Christians, like us...or are they?) or is it on Sunday as Baptists and some other faiths agree? I don't agree. I'm also confused about how homosexuality can be an abomination when Jonathan and David were married in the Bible (1 Samuel 18:1, 3 - 4). Also, Ruth's relationship with Naomi is suspect, (Ruth 1:16-17). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them (Lev.24:10-16)? Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws (Lev. 20:14)?

l) Believe it or not, an unbeliever sent me an email telling me that God is an ABORTIONIST? It says, "In Num. 5:11-31, God commands a husband to get an abortion for his wife if he suspects she has been impregnated by another man. A priest is to make her drink a potion and tell her, "If any man other than your husband has had intercourse with you, may the LORD make an example of you . . . by bringing upon you miscarriage and untimely birth." To deliberately cause a miscarriage is to perform an abortion, right? And who brings about this miscarriage? Who performs this abortion? It is the LORD who does so. God is an abortionist. In Ex. 21:22-25, God tells us what to do if a man who is fighting knocks against a pregnant woman. If the woman dies, the principle of "life for life" is invoked and the man responsible for her death must be killed. If she lives but has a miscarriage, then the death of the fetus is to be compensated for by the payment of a fine, as demanded by the woman's husband. Thus, God has revealed the status of the unborn fetus: it is not an independent, full-fledged human life, whose destruction amounts to murder. It is a thing owned by the woman's husband, a thing whose loss, like that of any other thing, may be compensated for with money." How can this be true? I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.

Anyway, thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging and also for the reassurance that the Bible is infallible.

Bloody Pakis'

Thank you Pakistan for the great Diwali gift. His friends have paid tribute to him with reverence: Sita Ram Goel (the courageous publisher of Voice of India, who ensured that the sage, who was ostracised for a time, could express his thought despite the censorship, hostility and indifference he faced), and David Frawley in his superb preface to the posthumously published work of Ram Swarup On Hinduism.(1) Your Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee rightly said that he was "a representative of India¹s rishi tradition in the modern age".

As for me, I can never adequately express my debt to Ram Swarup whom I first met three years ago. We had corresponded before I came to India, and I had published a long interview with him (and Sita Ram Goel and K.R. Malkani) on Hindutva, which was undoubtedly the first special issue published in French with the participation of intellectuals of the Vedic renaissance (2). Ram Swarup approved of the approach of my journal Antaios, which deals with the awakening of the native * Pagan - religions of Europe, and with freedom from the dogma of the Semitic religions and materialism. The first thing he did when he saw me was to put his hand on my shoulder as a father would and say, his eyes sparkling with kindness: "Ah, you are young, so you will be able to fight for a long time". This remark, coming from the old combattant that he was, who had actively fought the major deceptions of the century (colonialism, Marxism, anti-Hindu secularism, Christian missions, islamophilia, etc.), was a compliment. He seemed to trust the young foreigner who had come to meet him. It was above all a call to lucidity, a call to battle. Not a battle to be waged exclusively with the outside world, but also a battle against the enemy within, for the old sage knew that our worst enemy is within us and that our internal enemy is the most difficult to conquer. In the course of our long subsequent discussions, I came to appreciate the immense breadth of his culture, his generosity, and also his sense of humour. To have met a man of such human value is a privilege for which I cannot thank the Gods enough. It was Ram Swarup who gave me my first lessons in Sanatana Dharma. He encouraged me on the difficult path of rediscovering my identity which had been repressed first by the imprint of centuries of Christianity then with the stamp of materialism. It was he who, on the last occasion we met and when the time came to say goodbye, was able to find the right words to encourage and advise me to practice mental yoga so as to face up to a hostile or at the least an indifferent world. His friendship was both deep and dispassionate, and for this his influence was all the more striking. I have dwelt on these very personal considerations to show you how important this man was and remains for all those who strive for the restoration of the Dharma. Ram Swarup is an example to be followed, a true spiritual guide.

As a result of the contacts we had with Ram Swarup, Sita Ram Goel and so many other Hindu friends, our European group came to understand that we were not alone, and that our work found its echo at the other end of the continent. Let us now make a brief overview of the work of the Polytheistic journal Antaios that I have been directing since 1993. Mircea Eliade, a specialist on India, founded the review in 1959. In the 1920s, he had been a disciple of Surendranath Dasgupta, the well-known historian of Indian philosophy, and the German writer Ernst Jünger (a disciple of Nietzsche among others) who said in 1959: "a free world can only be a spiritual world". The periodical was published in German until 1971. Its objective was to combat Western nihilism by a return to classical sources. In 1993, a small group of us revived Antaios with the blessing of the venerable German writer Jünger, who remained interested in our work until his death in 1998 at the age of 103. He was our oldest reader. We are also followers of another great example : Alain Daniélou, the French indologist, initiated to traditional Shaivism in Kashi where he lived more than 15 years. Danielou devoted his entire life to the defense of Hindu Dharma. He was himself a follower of Swami Karpatriji. He worked with Karpatriji, translated some of his texts in several languages (and also translated in Hindi texts of René Guénon, for instance in Karpatriji¹s journal Siddhanta). In his passionate autobiography The way of the Labyrinth, Daniélou wrote these lines : " I tried to offer an insight into the profound values of this extraordinary civilisation, the only one of all the great civilisations of the ancient world that has survived, whose contribution, were it better known, could revolutionize modern thinking and bring a new Renaissance. This was probably why people are so afraid of it " (3). When I red these lines fifteen years ago, it was a sort of revelation. Since then , I have never forgotten Daniélou¹s fundamental message.
From its beginnings, the orientation of Antaios has been clearly pagan: to restore in Europe * and on other continents * the polytheist and non-dualist wisdom of the eternal tradition, which you refer to as Sanatana Dharma. This is not a new philosophical direction in Europe. Since Antiquity, and despite the censorship of Christianity, there have always been more or less hidden dissidents. Today, the Church has lost the total power it previously possessed, and thus it has become possible to challenge secular cultural and spiritual self alienation and to reaffirm, finally, after centuries of being in hiding, Paganism - that is to say the restoration of non conversion-based beliefs, non dogmatic approach, self- and God-realization, and wisdom such as Vidya, the way of knowledge. All this, which still exists in India despite Muslim, Christian and materialistic aggressions, also existed in Europe. But in Europe, the work of the missionaries has been successfully achieved: temples have been burnt or converted to other uses; holy books have been consigned to the flames; priests (our ³Brahmins²) have been killed, and our beliefs have been ridiculed. In summary, a veritable spiritual genocide, like all the initiatives in favour of conversion on the five continents by the protagonists of the one and only deity, i.e. the jealous God of the Monotheists.

How was pagan thought able to survive the catastrophe caused by the christianisation of Europe? To reinforce its hold over the minds of the people, the Church needed the help of the stalwarts of pagan thought and rituals. Thus, it appropriated for its own use * often superficially - the philosophy of Plato, Aristotle and Plotinus, the old festivals, rituals and symbols. Despite this, scholarly Christian priests were fascinated by the very pagan wisdom that they had persecuted, but which lived on in their memories (and their libraries) as a living reproach.

For serious students of Greek philosophy, particularly of the Pre-Socratic philosophers (Pythagorus, Empedocles), the link with Brahmanic thought is obvious: transmigration of the soul, concept of eternal return, importance of harmonics and primordial sounds, ascetic way of life, vegetarianism, etc. As our beloved Ram Swarup reminds us so well in his spiritual legacy "the Greece of Pythagoras, Plato and Plotinus has more in common with Hindu India than with Christian Europe" (On Hinduism, p. 9. Books have been written about the links between Greece and India : for instance R.Baine Harris ed., Neoplatonism and Indian thought (Delhi 1992). Greece and India, and also the Celtic world (the Celtic Druids are the cousins of the Brahmins) may be distant in space but they are close in spirit. Their origins are identical, since the brilliant Vedic and Hellenic civilisations go back to a common pre-Vedic and pre-Hellenic source. This was probably a polar source, as Lokamanya Bal Gangâdhar Tilak has capably demonstrated in his book which should be essential reading (and was partly written in prison because of his involvement in the Indian liberation movement) The Arctic Home of the Vedas (1903). The polar source explains the common structure of the Indo-European languages, from Lithuanian to Sanskrit, as well as obvious relationships between the indo-european mythologies, and between the archaic roman religion and the Vedic religion. For example, the sacrifice of the horse, which took place in Rome each October in honour of the god Mars, corresponds to the Vedic asvamedha in honour of Indra. A similar ritual of the sacrifice of a horse can be found in pagan Ireland. Let us be clear; this does not represent an Indian influence over Rome or Ireland, or a Roman or Irish influence over India, but a relationship due to a common origin, and one which dates back in time to when our common Indo-European (the term ³Aryan² is awkward to use in Europe because of its nazi connotations) ancestors still formed a single tribe (4).

In his famous book Shiva and Dionysus, Daniélou demonstrates that between Lord Shiva and the Greek Dionysus, the pre-aryan gods of ecstasy and ways to harmony with nature and cosmos, there is a common link, a 6000 years old way to unity with the divine (5).

Among the ordinary folk, the old traditions survived with a very thin veneer of Christianity. Christianity (mainly Catholicism, more than Protestantism) has retained many pre-Christian traditions (6). Good examples are the feasts of the Nativity and that of St John, which correspond to the winter and summer solstices respectively. The title of "pope" comes from the liturgy of the mysteries of Mithra, an indo-iranian God honoured by the armies of Rome. There are many similar examples, which demonstrate that Europe is not fundamentally Christian any more than India is fundamentally Muslim or China fundamentally Marxist. All these alien ideologies have been imposed from the outside, and as such their trace will be washed away with time, like a bad painting on the hull of a ship.

If ancient India and ancient Europe both have common roots, so modern India and modern Europe are both faced with common threats. Threats to the ecosystem, climate changes, and other threats that mankind must face up to. But there is another threat, which springs from the Judeo-Christian way of thinking and is thus alien to our not-dogmatic, non-proselytising and tolerant tradition: the phenomenon of conversions. Conversion to the single model, be it the one God, the single party system or the single market, or the supremacy of any socio-political institution over the entire society.
Conversion to the one God, in the tradition of the religions of Abraham. Conversions that Christian missionaries want to impose on Indians crudely or by more subtle means. To some, the advantages of egalitarianism, more preached than practiced by Christians, are extolled. For others the civilizing character of conversion and the possibility to forget their ancestral inheritance (thus betraying their ancestors) is put forward. Manipulation by suspect persons such as Mother Theresa, all the devices of systematic anti-Hindu propaganda, have managed to make a considerable number of Hindus, who for long have but weakly defended their traditions against these deceptions, feel guilty. Fortunately, this period of alienation seems to have ended with the coming to power of people prepared to defend Hinduism (7). Let us hope that the harmful role of the Christian missionaries will soon be neutralised, both in India and elsewhere. Besides, our group is following with interest the work of the Hindu Vivek Kendra to defend Hindu traditions against missionary aggression and hate-propaganda (.
Today in Europe, the danger no longer comes from the Catholic Church, for it has run out of steam.

Since the Council of Vatican II in the sixties, the Church has openly proved its decline : the sacred language * Latin (our " perfect " language)- has been neglected and all the old mantras disappeared from the Catholic pujas. The Catholic priests now turn their back to their God, i.e. to the East, looking to the assistance (i.e. to the West), which is complete inversion. Christianity is an historical religion with a beginning and thus an end. For us, followers of Sanatana Dharma, Eternal Tradition, this is absurdŠ but their conception of time is linear, not cyclic. So it is logic to say that the Christain reign will finish one day, as it started 2000 years ago. This cycle is slowly but firmly closing. This does not mean that the Church is not a danger anymore : it is still (politically, financially) powerfull. The declarations of the Pope about the so-called conversion (i.e. spiritual agression) of India can be interpreted as a political error (he was invited by " uggly " Hindu fundamentalists and insulted the whole Indian people. Can we imagine an Indian President urging the Italians to become followers of Shiva or Vishnu ?) but also as a sort of escape, out of reality for in the West, churches are getting unoccupied, day after day. The Church is now unable to find priests and must import African priests, often ignorant. Contemporary Christians are really ignorant : most of them believe in reincarnation, astrology, ignore hell and paradise, in a word they ignore everything about theology but are fascinated by Pagan heritage. Rather the main danger comes from the colonisation of our countries by immigrant Muslim North-African populations. One of our friends, the writer and sociologist Guillaume Faye published a controversial book on this phenomenon. It has already caused considerable scandal in France, although this has been kept from te readers by the ³right-thinking² press. The phenomenon is that of massive immigration into the country by populations from Africa and the Maghreb (coming from the lower levels of the social hierarchy) and through births in the immigrant population. This is combined with an assault on Europe by an aggressive form of Islam, supported by foreign powers such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan (9). Our proximity to North Africa, where there is a rapid population increase, whilst in Europe the population is in decline, and the serious imbalance between the two sides of the Mediterranean, constitute serious threats and undermine Europe¹s cultural and ethnic homogeneity. Islamisation, particularly in France but also in Great Britain and Germany, goes hand in hand with this invasive immigration * and criticism of it is forbidden for fear of being accused of "racism" (a good example of cultural and political auto-alienation). Faye, who is also a Pagan, reminds us in his "shocking" book that Islam is "absolute and proselytising universalism with an imperative vocation to conquer the entire world". He is right. Islam, a religion born of the desert, is above all a religion that creates new mental, psychic and spiritual deserts; it is ethnically and politically imperialistic; and one which believes in universal conquest through violence, assisted by its ethics of exclusion and intolerance. We have seen this in India. But Europeans are not interested in the history of real India, Hindu India. Dazzled by Christian or Marxist ways of thinking, they prefer the fascination of Muslim India. A revealing example: the most popular French tourist guide to Delhi provides full information on the mosques in the capital, but practically nothing on the temples! Faye also reminds us that the Koran is above all a manual of subversive warfare, which nobody reads. Those who have read it know that the book justifies conquest in three stages:

1) Dar al Sulh: in this stage the Muslim community is a minority community and momentarily adopts a peaceful attitude all the better to dupe the infidel, who thus naively allows his soil to be proselytised. (According to Le Monde of 9.12.99, 50,000 French people have converted to Islam up till now). This is the position in Europe today.

2) Dar al Harb: the territory of the infidel becomes a war zone. Perhaps there is resistance to Islam, or perhaps the Muslim population has reached a critical mass. In Europe, we now see the first signs of a low-intensity civil war: ethnic disturbances (which are not reported in the press), and widespread rioting by the younger generations of North Africans (who foray out from their no-go areas).

3) Dar al Islam: Muslims dominate the population and infidels are at best tolerated (as dhimmis: " protected" and required to pay a special tax) and at worst expelled or massacred. This was visible in Algeria and Morocco following independence. And I will not insult you with an explanation on the situation in Pakistan and Bangladesh after partition and also the forcefull mass-conversion of defeated Hindus during 10th to 16th centuries in India.

Some imams have quite plainly stated that the objective, according to God's will, was to transform Europe into Dar al Islam. In all evidence, the coming century will see a second wave of Muslim expansion in the West. The first was successfully repulsed from the 8th century onwards. But to make such a statement in Europe today makes one liable to prosecution (and Faye has just been indicted). Politically correct dogma requires peaceful coexistence between cultures; this is an utopic view that a basic study of history (for example that of India) will destroy. A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting a very brave man, Ibn Warraq, in Paris, on the occasion of the publication of the French version of his book: Why I am not a Muslim. The book is the first criticism of substance of Islam. The author confirmed the facts to me. Another author, Pierre Gallois, a French Air Force General, instigator of the French nuclear deterrent and a specialist of military strategy, has just published a book with an evocating title: Le soleil d1Allah aveugle l1Occident (The West is blinded by the sun of Allah) (10). These authors warn us against the utopia of pacifism, and of the danger of remaining totally blind to Islam as a deadly threat to secular traditions.
Another friend of ours, a political scientist and a specialist in geopolitics, and a follower of General Gallois, has published a book which also created a furor among ³right-minded thinkers² (11). His name is A. del Valle and his book demonstrates in a highly credible fashion that, in Islam, faith is indissociable from political theocracy. He further states that agressive Islamism is not "heretical" for it represents an application of the dogma of jihad, a traditional and perfectly legitimate dogma for Muslims. Moreover, del Valle proves that Islam, aggressive and expanding from Europe to India, has found an ally as formidable as it is surprising: the United States. For, ever since the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, the Americans have armed and trained * often with the help of their Saudi ally * the toughest Islamic movements. Our friend also shows that Muslim fundamentalism cohabits perfectly with the most ferocious capitalism. In the scenario of a confrontation between civilisations predicted by a Pentagon analyst, S. Huntington, the USA would arm Islam against Europe, Russia and India. As a result of the Gulf War, the USA has total control over the oilwells of this strategic region. To justify their support to the state of Israel, they support for example the Muslims against the orthodox Slav block (Serbian war) in the Balkans. They approve the indiscriminate immigration of Muslims to Europe. They support the Turkish (neo-Ottoman) designs in Central Asia (against Moscow) and support Turkey in its bid to join the European Union. I will not lecture you on the role played by the Americans against Delhi in Pakistan, which America considers as one of its colonies: the aim, as in the case of Europe and Russia, is to weaken an emerging power, in this case India.

Conversion to the single party system, for example Marxism. The collapse of the USSR in recent history has clearly shown the limits of Marxism as a totalitarian doctrine, which cannot understand any other civilisation than its own. And yet, despite the human failures, the spiritual disasters, and the economic catastrophe it brought about, there are still many firm believers in Marxism whose theories continue to influence many people even in Europe. For instance, too many journalist or scholars are still infected with marxist dogmatism and intolerance. Marxism is clearly linked to Christianity : same premises (linear conception of time, refuge in outer worlds : celestial Jerusalem or communist paradise, totalitarian egalitarianism which condemns differences, inquisition and physicall elimination of any opposition, etc). Christian and marxist propaganda agree to demonize the old cast system, which preserved during centuries the identity of India against all exterior agressions. Due to this intellectual terrorism, it is now difficult to tell the truth about casts, which are an important part of India¹s genius. Authors like Daniélou or Dumont (in his book Homo hierarchicus) dare to say the truth : casts are inherent in human nature.

In today¹s context, the third form of conversion is, in my opinion, the most dangerous. It is the conversion to the single market which the media, as the agents of consumer propaganda, refer to as globalisation. Globalisation is not unavoidable, a sort of inevitable progress, which will bring peace and prosperity throughout the world as liberal propaganda maintains. Behind the concept of globalisation lies the United States of America¹s ambition to dominate the world economically, militarily and culturally. This is not "globalisation", but imperialism to colonise the world by any means. So-called "globalisation" means making the planet American. There is no such thing as "globalisation", which some represent as progress, others as fate, but an all-out offensive campaign run from Washington to impose North American models, which are but are universally-formatted specific characteristics, on the whole planet.

The mask of capitalism, today in full expansion, is what I would call humanitarian materialism. It dominates people¹s minds thanks to a gigantic mass violation of them. The media has become a propaganda machine using a clever mixture of stick and carrot to ³jam² the mind, and its purpose is to gain the acceptance in the mentally confused masses of the official credo: market democracy. As the American linguist Noam Chomsky describes it so well: "propaganda is to democracy what force is to a dictatorship, in effect its essence". And yet, there really is confrontation between different imaginary worlds; the North American realm of fancy against the other imaginary realms. This confrontation creates other tensions of a political and economic nature.

In this war of colonisation, Europe in the midst of political and economic unification, India in full expansion, and Russia in full decline, all constitute obstacles to America¹s hegemonistic strategy. In its overall strategy to weaken its opponents and gain overall control, Washington uses all available means: financial weapons (competition in the banking sector, rigged neotiations in the framework of the WTO), food resources (OGM), military pressure (Balkan War), espionage (Echelon network), cultural weapons (television, CNN, destabilising advertising: Coca Cola is more dangerous than the 6th Fleet). Humanitarian materialism postulates a necessary but fatal "freedom" of the individual from all his affiliations (race, class, profession, religion, and even sex with the exaltation of homosexuality) and turn him into a conditioned consumer, slave to the worst of masters, a faceless master: the market (12).

These three main threats, conquest by Islam, Christian missions and humanitarian materialism are all occurring simultaneously, and they are self-reinforcing. Protestant missions, whether in India or in South America or in Russia, prepare the coming of the American traders. Islamic networks are supported by Washington indirectly through its Sunni Saudi or Pakistani allies. The example of the oil kingdoms shows clearlyl that Muslim or Protestant fundamentalism is compatible with consumerism, as these ideologies postulate the tabula rasa or clean slate and consider all ancestral traditions as obstacles to be pushed aside.

What to do?

It would be silly to give up in despair, for the very fragile system described above - one based on illusion * Maya - (typical of the great dissolution of Kali Yuga), will only last for a short time. One of our masters, René Guénon, a traditionalist thinker, already said in 1927, in his famous The Crisis of the modern world : " confusion, error and darkness can win the day only apparently and in purely ephemeral wayŠ and nothing can ultimately prevail against the power of truth ". (13) Oscar Wilde once said that the United States had passed directly from a state of savagery to a state of decadence. For the successors of the great civilisations such as India and classical Europe, it is clear that our potential destiny of becoming an annex of the American market (Bible and Business) is unacceptable. Our work, and it is a noble task, is to restore the Dharma, each according to his own traditions.
In Belgium, Antaios is modestly working towards this end, as does Voice of India in Delhi and so many others (Hindu Vivek Kendra in Mumbai for instance). We have founded the Society of Polytheistic Studies to raise funds, support our journal Antaios and organise meetings. Our last meeting was in Paris with a lecture given by prof. Maffesoli, one of the most influent French sociologistŠ who is a Polytheist ! For the moment, we are just a minority, slowly growing, sometimes demonised or ignored by the press and the University (but in England there are some Pagan scholars). I myself plan to publish a Pagan manifesto in october : Parcours paien (Pagan Itinerary) (Ed. L1Age d1Homme, Lausanne) in the same publishing house than Ibn Warraq1s book Why I am not a Muslim.

In Lithuania, the World Congree of Ethnic Religions has been created : it would be nice that Hindus become members of this association devoted to the defense of Paganism. WCER organises an annual meeting with people coming from Poland, Iceland, Russia, Belgium, France, etc.(www.wcer.org)
In France, a more radical movement (closer to RSS style) has started to be spoken about: Terre et Peuple. Its president, a professor of medieval history and a well-known indophile, has recently published a manifesto in which he calls upon Europeans to rid themselves of consumerism and nihilism, to rediscover their pagan origin (14), and to combat the development of Islam on the continent. These constitute the modest signs of a reaction to the deep crisis. There are others, much more important. The Seattle demonstrations; the coming to power, in the world¹s biggest democracy, of a party which openly dares to defend the Dharma; the still embryonic renaissance of native religions; and the interest in the environment worldwide: all these are signs of a reply to the disorder engendered by liberalism.

In the battle we find the same ennemy, our worse enemy : our own weakness, our own ignorance and divisions.

We Resistance fighters all over the eurasiatic continent, from Ireland to India, need a large alliance against chaos and destruction, for the defense of Dharma, the noblest task for our generation.

Europeans can warn you against dangers of modernity and we can find in India an ally able to assist us in a return to our native culture ³out of the ruins of the West². Europe has to free itself from the West and re-discover its true identity, true to the Dharma. In this endeavour, the rediscovery of India and the ancient relatonship between the Vedic civilisation and the ancient Greek and Celtic civilisations will, for example, be of great assistance. As the philosopher Nietzsche said: "the man of the future will be the man with the longest memory". Ram Swarup, sage of the Vedic renaissance, says the same thing in his spiritual legacy. I shall quote it as my concluding remark: "The Ramayana and the Mahabharata can help in restoring this lost dimension". Let us follow in his footsteps and re-read the pre-Socratic Greek philosophers and the Upanishads of India to obtain our self-rediscovery.
We know that as we say in Latin " Vincit omnia veritas ". In your sacred language, you would say " Satyam eva jayate ". (15)

Thank you for your attention.

New Delhi, 22nd July 2000

The lecture was organised by Vishwa Adhyayan Kendra, held in Constitution Club, New Delhi, with prof L. Chandra and K.R. Malkani.
References:

(1) Ram Swarup, On Hinduism. A job in Angola with Halliburton seems tough, due to country policies. didnt relaize that Jean's father was the VP of Angola operations. Making an A in the water pollution test was quite a relief. Dr.Katz is really nice. Talal wasnt too pleased though. Appwizji should be helping me with getting started with Java. Dr.Bryant says he will formally give me the PhD offer pretty soon. Jacq and her neighbors are having a party friday night, have to go for that. Met Juan and nacho too, nacho seems to have fixed his rear tire, so we will be riding again pretty soon. Excited about beverage bust tomorrow, free beer! Ran an experiment today, staisfactory reproduction of results. and yeah i have to turn up sunday afternoon for ABET.
